Sarawak

The Miriek is according to Robert Blust a language of Lower Baram under the subgroup of North Sarawak languages. This subgroup includes Miriek, Dalliek, Berawan, Kiput, Narum, Belait, Tutong, Lelak and Lementing.

Clifford Sather stated that the miriek originally interior people of the Miri River, Padang Liku and Sungai Taniku area and were forced to migrate into a coastal habitat due to the expansion of the Kayan.
